The Center for Women in Transition believes in each person's right to be treated
with dignity and respect.  The women we serve have, for the most part, not ever been treated
that way.  In fact, 98.6% of the ones currently served are victims of violence and abuse from
early childhood.   However, despite the violence and abuse, they are essentially no different than
the rest of us are..... They hunger for the same things we do - trust, honesty, love, emotional
support as they grow.   Every donation you give helps us help them become their own agents
of change.  The money donated supports our programs in jail - books, writing materials, journals -
and the re-entry needs each woman has when she is released from Jail or Prison - basic
needs like clothing, identity papers (driver's licenses, birth certificates, Social Security
cards, etc.), help with transportation, help with childcare, etc. All of your money supports
their ability to make healthier choices in their lives for themselves and their children.
